Social sustainability
We create places that last – and that bring people together. Places where communities can grow, and where safety and a sense of belonging are a natural part of everyday life.
We develop urban environments that invite, inspire and make room for the sound of life between buildings. For us, the human dimension is essential, and every district should contribute to a city where people thrive, grow and feel at home.
Together, we build cities – and workplaces – that stand the test of time.
Focus areas, targets and key activities
Positive societal impact
People are drawn to places where they feel welcome and included, where proximity to services and green spaces reduces stress, and where urban life is present throughout the day. For us, social sustainability is therefore an integral part of the business.
When people enjoy spending time in our areas, their attractiveness increases, creating strong customer flows, long-term engagement among our tenants and vibrant urban districts over time. Through our Our City Index, we measure and monitor how our areas contribute to social sustainability. The tool helps us develop places that are safe, inclusive and accessible.
Our main target is to achieve >90% in the Our City Index by 2030.

Responsible employer
As a responsible employer, we create the conditions for employees to thrive, develop and feel well over time. A sustainable work environment, clear goals and present leadership form the foundation for engagement and performance.
Health, learning and continuous skills development are prioritised through structured initiatives and regular follow-up. By harnessing motivation and diverse perspectives, we strengthen both the organisation and our ability to develop vibrant and sustainable urban environments over time.

Safeguarding human rights
Human rights are a key focus area in our sustainability work. This means ensuring safe working conditions, preventing discrimination and safeguarding that everyone affected by our operations is treated with dignity and respect – within our own organisation, in the supply chain and in collaborations.
Through clear requirements, follow-up and dialogue, this responsibility is integrated into the business, with the aim of contributing to long-term sustainable and equitable urban environments where people and businesses can develop on equal terms.
Our main target is to have zero human rights violations. Mapping is ongoing.
Human City Index
Human City Index measures how human a city is.
It captures how a place is experienced by the people who spend time there: safety, sense of belonging, participation and the presence of nature. By making it accessible to everyone, it becomes a tool for all who live and work in a city to understand and improve it.
Our ambition is to contribute to cities where everyone wants to live.
